What is 3D Printing?
3D printing (additive manufacturing) builds parts layer by layer directly from CAD, enabling complex internal features, rapid iteration, and minimal tooling. It’s ideal for form/fit/function prototypes, pilot runs, jigs/fixtures, and select end-use parts.
Why KaiSpeed
All major processes in one place: SLA, SLS/MJF, FDM, SLM/DMLS + downstream machining and finishing.
Engineer-led DFM: Early guidance on wall thickness, feature size, lattice/support strategy, orientation, and post-process.
Finish like production: Sanding, bead-blast, dye, paint, vapor smoothing, clear polish, anodize/plating for metal prints.
Smooth handoff to scale: Bridge builds, rapid tooling, and machining if/when you outgrow additive.
Our 3D Printing Technologies
SLA
Laser-cured resin with smooth surfaces and high feature fidelity; clear/translucent options.
Best for: Appearance models, snap-fits, master patterns, “clear” optics (post-polish)
Guidelines: walls ≥ 0.6–1.0 mm; small features supported; excellent paintability
SLS / MJF
owder bed fusion for strong, functional nylon (PA12/PA11); no support marks; uniform matte finish.
Best for: Functional parts, hinges/living features, ducts, brackets, lattice structures
Guidelines: walls ≥ 0.8–1.0 mm; add fillets; dye/textures available
FDM
Large-format parts in engineering thermoplastics (ABS, PC, ASA, PEI/ULTEM).
Best for: Big prototypes, fixtures, heat-/chemical-resistant materials
Guidelines: walls ≥ 1.2–1.5 mm; consider orientation and sparse infill for cost/time
SLM/DMLS
Laser-melted metal powders (e.g., AlSi10Mg, 316L, 17-4PH, Ti-6Al-4V, Inconel).
Best for: Lightweight lattices, consolidated assemblies, conformal cooling, complex manifolds
Post-process: Stress-relief/heat treat, optional HIP, CNC machining, bead-blast, surface finishing
Materials (typical)
Polymers: SLA resins (standard/clear/tough/high-temp), PA12/PA11 (SLS/MJF), TPU elastomers, ABS/PC/ASA/PEI (ULTEM) for FDM
Metals (SLM/DMLS): AlSi10Mg, Stainless 316L/17-4PH, Ti-6Al-4V, Inconel (others on request)
Finishing Options
Plastics: Sanding, media tumble, vapor smoothing (ABS/ASA), dyeing (nylon), primer/paint, texture, clear polish (SLA)
Metals: Heat treat/HIP, machining, bead-blast, shot-peen (select), anodize (Al), passivation (SS), plating/coatings, laser marking

FAQs
Typical: SLA ±0.10–0.20 mm, SLS/MJF ±0.20 mm or ±0.2%, FDM ±0.20–0.50 mm, SLM/DMLS per feature with machining for tight fits. We’ll validate during DFM.
SLA: best cosmetics/fine details/clear parts
SLS/MJF: strongest functional nylon, no support scars
FDM: large, tough thermoplastics, cost-efficient
SLM/DMLS: metal parts with complex internals; plan for post-machining
By material/volume, build time, geometry, post-processing, and quantity. Upload CAD for a line-item quote.
STL for printing, STEP if secondary machining/assembly is needed. Always include a PDF drawing for critical callouts and finishes.
